The Federal Internal Revenue Service (the “IRS”) determined, effective in June 2007, that Friends of Sunset Cliffs qualifies as a public charity exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. Contributions to Friends of Sunset Cliffs are deductible under the Code and Friends of Sunset Cliffs is qualified to receive tax deductible requests, devises, transfers or gifts under section the Code.

Its Employer Identification Number (the “EIN”) is 330896424.

The tax-exempt status with the State of California was effective in September 1999.

The Bylaws enumerate the Mission of Friends of Sunset Cliffs as follows:

1. To protect the integrity of the fragile landforms, sensitive natural coastal habitat and scenic vistas in Sunset Cliffs Natural Park and adjacent areas, and to oppose any actions which would result in the reduction, destruction or degradation of the Park or encroachment into the Park by private use or development;

2. To work with local, state and Federal agencies to develop and implement plans for the Park which preserve the natural environment, including plans for erosion control measures in the Park and surrounding areas;

3. To promote public awareness of the Park, and support educational activities to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the geographic, environment and historical features of the Park;

4. To support public access to the Park consistent with passive use, including safe pedestrian paths, benches and view points, as well as access to the water for surfing, fishing, and tidepooling;

5. To raise funds through donations and obtain funds from grants and entitlements, for use in promoting and implementing these goals.

The members of Friends of Sunset Cliffs commit to carrying out this Mission.
